DAVAO CITY — Southpaw Jaysever Abcede of Bukidnon will face yet another Japanese opponent and this time undefeated Kento “Prince” Hatanaka at the Takeda Teva Ocean Arena in Nagoya, Japan.

Abcede will step into the ring with 19 wins and eight defeats against Hatanaka’s impressive 9-0, all won in short distance.

Despite his unimpressive ring record, Abcede has won his last four fights including a bout against Japanese Seigo Yuri Akui. He stopped Akui (12-2-1) in the eight-round in Suntopia, Soja, Okayama on Oct. 28, 2018.

In May last year, Abcede also knocked out Yutthana Kaensa of Thailand in the second round to win the Boxing Association Asia flyweight title in Bangkok, Thailand. It was the Thai’s first defeat that stopped his streak to 20.

The Abecede-Hatanaka fight is one of the undercards of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight title fight between defending champion Konsei Tanaka of Japan and challenger Jonathan Gonzales of Puerto Rico.

Despite his impressive 9-0 record, Hatanaka has yet to face a foreign opponent. (PNA)
