COTABATO CITY — The Department of Agriculture-Region 12 (DA-12) on Saturday recognized beneficiary groups in North Cotabato that have shown outstanding performances in the implementation of the agency’s Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) program. 

 

Engr. Mila Casis, DA-12 director, said the recognition was part of her agency’s reward system for the effective implementation of DA programs. 

 

Adjudged as the “SAAD Best Performer” during the awarding ceremony held in Kidapawan City was the Kamada Integrated Farmers’ Association based in Magpet, North Cotabato, which received a plaque and a project worth PHP300,000. 

 

Second place was the Central Bulanan Farm Workers’ Association of Midsayap town that also got a PHP200,000 project. 

 

Coming in the third spot was Tibao San Vicente Ferrer Multi-Purpose Cooperative based in the municipality of M’lang that also took a PHP100,000 project. 

 

Casis appealed to other SAAD beneficiaries to emulate the awardees so their livelihood and sources of income will improve. 

 

SAAD is a locally-funded DA program that intends to help alleviate poverty among the marginalized sectors on agriculture and fishery. 

 

The DA-12 area of SAAD implementation covers the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani; and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal and General Santos. (PNA)
