(Eagle News)–Three resource persons were cited in contempt by the Senate on Thursday, Sept. 12, for “continuously lying.”

It was Senator Ronald dela Rosa who motioned for Atty. Fredric Anthony Santos, suspended Bureau of Corrections legal unit chief; New Bilibid Prison hospital doctor Urcisio Cenas; and suspended BuCor records and documents unit chief Ramoncito Roque to be sanctioned before the end of the hearing on problems in BuCor.

Roque and Cenas denied they received any payment in exchange for their services from inmates, while Santos, Senator Richard Gordon, panel chair, said was “evasive” when asked if the people in BuCor knew about the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, who earlier expressed hope the panel would punish the resource persons he said had been “lying to our faces,” seconded Dela Rosa’s motion.

“There being a motion which has been approved without any objection.. the chair orders the confinement of the three individuals..until they satisfactorily explain why their confinement due to contempt should not be discontinued..,” Gordon said.

The three are expected to stay in Senate custody.
