COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has recorded 48 new cases of recovery from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of Sunday night, the BARMM’s Ministry of Health announced Monday.

With 48 new recoveries, BARMM now has a cumulative total of 1,190 recovered patients.

On Saturday, the region has also recorded a single-day highest recovery record with 95 persons healed from the virus.

“We hope that the high recovery rate would continue,” Dr. Amirel Usman, the acting BARMM health minister, said in an interview on Monday.

This came as 14 new infections were also reported as of Sunday, raising the total number of cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases to 1,589 since March this year.

Of the 14 new cases, 11 were from Sulu, and one each in Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, and Tawi-Tawi, Usman said.

Active cases are 337 with 62 deaths.

In the Soccsksargen region, the Department of Health reported Monday that 35 persons have recovered while 33 infections were reported as of Sunday night.

To date, the total number of persons who recovered from the disease in Region 12 is 1,713. Of the 35 patients who survived the disease, 25 were from South Cotabato; 6 from Cotabato City; and 4 from General Santos City.

With the new 33 new infections, the Soccsksargen now has 2,454 total confirmed cases.

Cotabato City has the highest number of new infections at 18, followed by General Santos City with eight, two each from North Cotabato, South Cotabato, and Sarangani with Sultan Kudarat having only one case.

General Santos City now leads the areas with the most number of cumulative confirmed cases at 716 followed by South Cotabato with 659, Cotabato City coming in third with 530, North Cotabato, 205; Sarangani, 185; and Sultan Kudarat, 159.

Two patients from Cotabato City died on Sunday due to Covid-19, raising the region’s death toll to 75. (PNA)
